I'm a MASSIVE fan of "Annihilation" so seeing everyone collectively shrug their shoulders at this one is a bit disappointing. I felt similar feeling with Kaufman's "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" but quickly grew to love that movie. Maybe the same will happen with this one but I'll just have to see...
I don't know, something like Annihilation only really worked for me in the last section at the lighthouse - something about it shifted into almost a dreamlike logic, something beautifully wordless and visual. In a lot of ways, it felt like 2001: A Space Odyssey in that it felt like it was connecting to me in some primal way that defies articulation. But Men just felt a bit empty to me. Like I said before, I'm really struggling to make sense of it and what I'm meant to take away from it.
